BIOVIGILANT DEFENSE SPIN-OFF UP AND RUNNING

BIOV Defense and Security Technologies, Inc. (BIOV-DST) has been spun off by BioVigilant Systems, Inc. as an independent licensee of BioVigilant's patented Instantaneous Microbial Detection (IMD®) technology for use in military and defense applications.

With the recent purchase of controlling interest in BioVigilant by Yamatake Corporation of Japan's AZBIL Group, BioVigilant has turned over all of its military applications to BIOV-DST. The spin-off gave ownership of BIOV-DST to all previous BioVigilant Shareholders, but ownership has now been consolidated with Community Investment Corporation of Tucson, Arizona taking controlling interest.

"Community Investment Corporation's mission is economic growth in Tucson and Pima County, Arizona. We expect our investment in BIOV-DST to bring high paying jobs in the defense and technology sectors to Tucson. We are continuing our investment in BioVigilant and expect that both BIOV-DST and BioVigilant will be significant contributors to the economic well-being of Southern Arizona," said Executive Director Frank Valenzuela.

BIOV-DST will exhibit with other development partners at National Defense Industry Association's 2009 Joint CBRN Conference and Exhibition at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on June 23-25, 2009.

"We are picking up exactly where BioVigilant left off on Biological Threat Detection and Warning applications in the military space," Valenzuela said. "There should be no gap in our effort. We are up and running."
